FAQ

What is the pilot light for?

A pilot light is a little flame that remains burning in gas-powered appliances such as your furnace, water heater and gas fireplace. When you turn on your appliance, gas is released to the main burner, and the pilot light ignites the gas, causing the device to turn on and deliver heat.

What is a pilot light in a circuit?

The pilot light indicates whether the connected load (such as a light fixture or other appliances) is turned on or off. These switches are intended to improve safety and convenience by providing a visual indicator of circuit state.

What is pilot light concept?

One of the thermocouple junctions sits in the flame of a pilot light. The generated electricity flows to a small electromagnetic valve, holding it open. If the pilot light goes off, the thermocouple will immediately cool down. It stops generating electricity, and the valve closes. In a pilot light, one of the junctions of a thermocouple is sitting in the pilot light’s flame. The electricity that is created runs to a small electromagnetic valve and holds it open. If the pilot light blows out, the thermocouple quickly cools off. It stops generating electricity and the valve closes.
